Announcing Riley William Ford

Riley was born on Thursday June 23rd at 11:40 AM, 7lbs 4.5oz and 20.5 inches long.

Riley is a name Justin has loved since he was 10 and William is in remembrance of my father, whom I miss every day. Riley also shares the same birthday of my childhood  friend named Kiki, who lost the  battle to leukemia as a child.

Riley had his first checkup today and passed with flying colors. More to come soon, but here are some pictures.

Ultrasound Pics

I finally had time to scan the pictures we got of the baby when we went to find out his gender at 22 weeks.  I am now 39 weeks and just had an ultrasound yesterday to see how big he will be; we hear back from the doctor in a day or two.

You can see him sucking his thumb for most of the pictures, especially the top couple in the middle and far rigth columns.  I have more pictures from my ultrasound yesterday, will post those soon.

Kitchen Remodel - Phase 4

The walls are painted and the cabinets are in!  Some of the doors are still missing and there are a couple of holes that need to be patched, but the kitchen is transformed once again into an amazing room.

This is a picture after we were FINALLY done with painting.  I took four days to get everything done: a day to prime and paint the ceiling each, a day to prime then a day to paint the walls.  Our friend Maggie, who also happened to be 9 months pregnant at the time, came over to help us paint on the last evening.  The fifth day was spent touching up the walls and visiting with Mom, who was in from Vermont for a business trip.

The next weekend was Memorial Day weekend, and we put in the cabinets with Kevin's help.  The seemingly small task of staining and polyurethaning has consumed an entire month, but the payoff is tremendous!  You can't even tell the difference between the existing and new cabinets.  Add the perfect match to the fact that we have double the space and it makes all of the hard work worth while.

And finally, here are a few pics from when Mom was in town.  We had a good time wandering around Oak Park looking at homes built by Frank Lloyd Wright.
